Everyone knows that fireworks are a MUST for celebrating the 4th of July and the start of a New Year. But few people have considered how fireworks can enhance the celebration of some other holidays as well. Halloween is a great (but often overlooked) occasion for fireworks! Disney World is already holding yearly Halloween fireworks displays, and there's no reason that families can't also get in on the fun.

Halloween fireworks can certainly add a unique flair to the season's spooky scenes. You may find a few specific types of fireworks to be especially exciting at your ghoulish gatherings this Halloween:

Crazy Eyeballs- Eyeballs are a classic element in Halloween decor. Now you can expand on that theme with these spooky sparklers. These disembodied eyeballs spin around and have a big finish that will provide onlookers with a (safe) scare or two.

Wedding Sparklers - A Fantastic Way to Brighten Up Your Wedding - 10/10/2011

Long the favorite starter for fireworks displays, sparklers are gaining popularity as wedding favors. Wedding sparklers can be used to create brilliant archways for the wedding couple to walk through, light the way in processions, and even create a glittering brilliance atop a wedding cake. You can also use them to build up to a fireworks finale or to occupy restless little ones. Traditional gold sparklers are safe to use indoors, allowing you to bring the festivities inside when used carefully.

No longer considered fireworks but instead a novelty, sparklers are legal in nearly every state. Check your local regulations to be sure before purchasing because some areas still prohibit their use.

Choosing Sparklers
Traditional sparklers emit a glorious golden glow and little smoke, making them the most versatile type of sparkler. Modern sparklers offer a wider range of colors, including green, blue and red, but tend to release a bit more smoke and are not suited to indoor use.

Wedding sparklers are available in a variety of lengths, including 8”, 10”, 20” and 36”. Shorter sparklers are better for using on cakes because they burn quickly. Choose a longer length, such as 36”, to help coordinate a large display of sparklers. Since they burn longer, 20” and 36” wedding sparklers can be used to create temporary lighting on pathways.

Two common types of sparklers are metal and bamboo. Metal sparklers are sturdier and burn more evenly, but may be difficult to light if exposed to moisture in the manufacture process, so avoid sparklers with signs of rust. Bamboo sparklers can be more prone to breaking when waved vigorously, but have the benefit of leaving less waste behind.

Using Sparklers
Everyone can enjoy using sparklers, from children to adults. Follow these simple safety rules to ensure a safe and fun time:

Keep lit sparklers at arm’s length until they burn out
Never wave a sparkler near someone’s face or eyes
Supervise small children at all times to prevent injuries
Never light multiple sparklers at once

Sparklers are best lit with a lighter, butane torch or if available, built in strikers on the box. Matches blow out too easily to light wedding sparklers, even in calm weather conditions.

How to Plan the Perfect Fireworks Show - 8/31/2011

A great fireworks show like most forms of entertainment thrills spectators without revealing the logistics involved. A little effort in planning ahead is the key to a fireworks show that looks effortless to spectators.

The first step to planning your show is to consider your location, starting with your state. Every state has different laws about what firework varieties are allowed for consumer use, local permits for large-scale displays, and insurance requirements.

On a smaller scale, also consider the space you will use to stage your fireworks. You need a level, open space free from flammable materials or overhead hazards like trees or power lines. Block off a fallout zone extending about 75 feet around your staging area to protect spectators from falling debris. Plan to put the spectator area upwind of the staging area where people can get in and out without having to cross the staging area or fallout zone.

Now that you know what space you have to work with, it’s time for the real fun – planning the actual display. Let the experts at your local fireworks store help you select products and assemble the best show for your budget. Got big dreams for your display? As the Fourth of July approaches, it’s time to shop for fireworks for your holiday get-together. Whether you’re planning a family backyard cookout, a neighborhood block party, or a huge corporate event, there’s a pre-packaged fireworks assortment for your needs and budget. They generally range in price from $15 to $700 and may include fireworks of all types or focus on one category of fireworks - for example, fountains or mortars.

At the Golf Ball Outlet & Fireworks Mega Store, we get a lot of customers asking if it’s better to buy an assortment pack or choose individualproducts “a la carte”. Both choices can give you a great fireworks experience - the answer really depends on your preferences and needs.

To help you decide if an assortment pack is right for you, we’ve compiled a brief list of advantages and disadvantages:

Advantages:

Assortments may be cheaper than if the same fireworks were bought separately. For example, a $70 Assortment might contain fireworks that cost $90 if purchased separately.

An assortment can provide a variety of items. So, if you are new to Fireworks and haven’t developed your list of “likes” or “dislikes”, the assortment will provide an array of different products from which to choose.

Convenience. Buying an assortment should take far less time than buying the products individually.

Disadvantages:

The assortments are pre-packed and therefore most of the decision making eliminated. If you are the type of individual more inclined to controlling the process, an assortment may not be a good choice.

Assortments are often excluded from store specials. Many fireworks stores offer buy one/get one deals and larger purchase incentives. Most assortments will not fall into these categories.
